LA CANZONE DEL GIORNO: I GIVE YOU TWO SECONDS TO ENTERTAIN ME/NORTHERN PORTRAIT

Shake my arm when it's over
This whole thing is killing me
I don't want to be killed
Time goes by, I am waiting
For a thing or two to say
Nothing's going on here
Though she's got a million
Million dollar face and a two million dollar figure
This will not excite me
I'm so tired
Tired of the way she's selling out
Push me down from this chair of mine
When you think it's time to leave
I might fall asleep here
Time goes by, I am waiting
with no 'where' or 'to' to go
I don't want to stay here
I know she's got a million dollar face
but this will not excite me
And though it is so clear that she's so pretty
I'm tired of the way she's selling out
I want something that's real and perfectly genuine
A place where I can feel that I belong
And if you won't bring me to the mountain
you must bring the mountain here

I give you two seconds to entertain me
I give you two seconds to entertain me
I give you two seconds to entertain me

I give you two seconds to entertain me
I give you two seconds to entertain me
I give you two seconds to entertain me

LA CANZONE DEL GIORNO: PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE LET ME GET WHAT I WANT/THE SMITHS

Good times for a change
See the luck I've had
Can make a good man turn bad
So please, please, please
Let me, let me, let me
Let me get what I want this time

Haven't had a dream in a long time
See the life I've had
Can make a good man bad
So for once in my life
Let me get what I want
Lord knows it would be the first time
Lord knows it would be the first time

LA CANZONE DEL GIORNO: I STARTED SOMETHING I COULDN'T FINISH/THE SMITHS

The lanes were silent
There was nothing, no one
Nothing around for miles
I doused our friendly venture
With a hard faced
Three word gesture

I started something
I forced you to a zone
And you were clearly
Never meant to go
Hair brushed and parted
Typical me, typical me, typical me
I started something
And now I'm not too sure

I grabbed you by the guilded beams
That's what tradition means
And I doused another venture
With a gesture
That was absolutely vile

I started something
I forced you to a zone
And you were clearly
Never meant to go
Hair brushed and parted
Typical me, typical me, typical me
I started something
And now I'm not too sure

I grabbed you by the guilded beams
That's what tradition means
And now eighteen months' hard labour
Seems fair enough

I started something
And I forced you to a zone
And you were clearly
Never meant to go
Hair brushed and parted
Typical me, typical me, typical me
I started something
And now I'm not too sure

I started something
I started something
Typical me, typical me, typical me
Typical me, typical me, typical me
Typical me
I started something
And now I'm not too sure

LA CANZONE DEL GIORNO: THERE IS A LIGHT THAT NEVER GOES OUT/THE SMITHS

Take me out tonight
Where there's music and there's people
Who are young and alive
Driving in your car
I never, never want to go home
Because I haven't got one
Anymore

Take me out tonight
Because I want to see people
And I want to see lights
Driving in your car
Oh please, don't drop me home
Because it's not my home, it's their home
And I'm welcome no more

And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure, the privilege is mine

Take me out tonight
Take me anywhere, I don't care
And in the darkened underpass
I thought: Oh God, my chance has come at last!
But then a strange fear gripped me
And I just couldn't ask

Take me out tonight
Oh take me anywhere, I don't care
Driving in your car
I never, never want to go home
Because I haven't got one
Oh I haven't got one

And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure, the privilege is mine

There is a light that never goes out

ASCOLTI: YEARS OF REFUSAL/MORRISSEY

SOMETHING IS SQUEEZING MY SKULL

Brani come Something Is Squeezing My Skull, Mama Lay Softly On The Riverbed e When Last I Spoke To Carol testimoniano, se mai ce ne fosse bisogno, quanto Moz abbia ispirato, negli anni, odierne realtà importanti come Kaiser Chiefs e The Last Shadow Puppets. E se la breve e divertente That's How People Grow Up fa il verso al vocal metal, You Were Good In Your Time rivela tutta la classe dell'ex leader degli Smiths. Davvero una bella sorpresa, ritrovare Morrissey ancora così in forma.
