Manca un solo tassello del puzzle, e poi The Velvet Uderground & Nico, il primo dei dischi del progetto Record Club, con il quale Beck, assieme ad un manipolo di amici fidati (Nigel Godrich, Joey Waronker, Giovanni Ribisi, Brian Lebarton, Bram Inscore, Yo, Chris Holmes e la cantante islandese Thorunn Antonía Magnusdottir), intende rileggere alcune pietre miliari del rock registrando tutti i pezzi in una sola sessione, sarà ultimato. Negli ultimi due giorni, infatti, l'eclettico e prolifico (contemporaneamente sta lavorando anche alla replica acustica di Modern Guilt) musicista americano ha pubblicato sul suo sito ufficiale le cover di I'll Be Your Mirror e The Black Angel's Death Song. Aspettiamo quindi European Son per completare l'album, mentre in rete si parla già di Evol dei Sonic Youth ed Oar di Skip Spence come possibili nuovi capitoli del Beck's Record Club: si accettano scommesse...

È il più originale e talentuoso artista dei nostri tempi. Un genio. Sto parlando di Banksy, il writer inglese dall'identità anonima. Di seguito pubblico qualche passo dall'intervista che ha rilasciato alla rivista americana di cultura pop Swindle:

Non m'interessa uscire allo scoperto. Credo ci siano già abbastanza stronzi ostinati che vogliono importi le loro brutte facce

ARTE: BASQUIAT/PALAZZO RUSPOLI

Proprio ieri, per rinfrescare un po' la mia memoria sempre troppo corta, ho rivisto il film biografico di Julian Schnabel: la vita, breve ma intensa di Jean-Michel Basquiat, somiglia più alla storia di una rockstar maledetta, nell'accezione più letteraria del termine, che a quella di un pittore contemporaneo. Le origini povere, il talento grezzo, le prime clandestine esibizioni, il successo improvviso, il voltafaccia della critica, il declino e l'autodistruzione. C'è tutto. Ed anche le sue opere, in fondo, sono come delle canzoni pop: immediate, esplosive, violente, ripetitive. Eppure sempre diverse. E ci si scopre così conquistati dai suoi slogan, semplici e geniali, che restano in testa alla stregua di un ritornello perfetto, come quello che fa da titolo e da filo conduttore della mostra, TO REPEL GHOSTS (fantasmi da scacciare). Le figure, a volte solo accennate, a volte ritoccate così profondamente da sovrapporsi, appaiono infantili eppure inquietanti, rappresentazione di corpi frammentati e ridotti ai minimi termini, specchio fedele dell'interno, dell'animo dell'artista.
In termini pratici, la rassegna in scena a Palazzo Ruspoli è buona, coerente, magari non strepitosa come quella che il Chiostro del Bramante ospitò qualche anno fa, ma una visita la vale comunque. Interessanti anche le foto di Michael Halsband che aprono il percorso, che ritraggono Basquiat con Andy Warhol, e durante il suo soggiorno italiano. Il biglietto d'ingresso costa 10 Euro.
