CONCERTI: EDITORS + THE MACCABEES + WINTERSLEEP/TEATRO TENDASTRISCE/ROMA

AN END HAS A START

La curiosità di ascoltare dal vivo i nuovi brani degli Editors era grande: qualcuno, di fronte alle sonorità anni ottanta, ha storto il naso, ma a giudicare dalla gente che ha gremito il Tendastrisce per l'occasione, devono essere una minoranza. Si parte, e non potrebbe essere altrimenti, con la title-track dell'ultimo album. Poi però, a seguire, An End Has A Start ed All Sparks, e da lì in avanti, la band attinge senza soluzione di continuità dall'intera discografia, a conferma del fatto che le suggestioni new wave di In This Light And On This Evening legano alla perfezione con i tratti più rock degli lavori precedenti: e così si va dall'esplosiva Bullets all'alienante The Big Exit, dalla stroboscopica Smokers Outside The Hospital Doors all'onirica Like Treasure, dall'emozionante When Anger Shows alla monumentale Bricks And Mortar senza che l'intensità cali anche solo per un istante. Il gioco di luci ed immagini sullo sfondo dona geometria alla musica, e la teatralità (meno statica che in passato) di Tom Smith ne fa sempre più l'erede mediatico, oltre che vocale e compositivo, di Dave Gahan. Ce n'è un po'per tutti, come si legge a chiare lettere durante l'esecuzione, splendida, di Eat Raw Meat = Blood Drool: dai fan della prima ora, premiati con il b-side You Are Fading, a quelli che li hanno scoperti da poco, magari con Papillon, l'unica canzone, da anni a questa parte, in grado di togliere lo scettro di pezzo più suonato nei dancefloor alternativi a Love Will Tear Us Apart dei Joy Division, passando per quelli più distratti, che avranno gradito Munich, forse a tutt'oggi la hit più famosa del gruppo.
Due parole infine, per i supporter (di lusso): i candesi Wintersleep, decisamente interessanti e da approfondire, ed i Maccabees, simpatici, ma un po' ripetitivi.
