LA CANZONE DEL GIORNO: FUNERAL SONG/FAST ROMANTICS

I just got back from your funeral
You were lying on a sheet
With some strange man standing over you
As though he knew you more than me

But you've still got that body
And you can dress it up in black
But when I look at you
You don't look back

'Cause when I saw you at the spaceship door
They were calling you aboard
From all the people at your funeral
I couldn't take you anymore

But you've still got that body
And you'll remind us all of that
But when I look at you
You don't look back

I would rather give my heart
To the travelling band
I set out to sail the moon
And all that I found was sand
I would rather hold your heart
In my two hands
I set out to sail the moon
And I came back a lonely man

I would rather give my heart
To the travelling band
I set out to sail the moon
And all that I found was sand
I would rather hold your heart
In my two hands
I set out to sail the moon
And I came back so lonely

I just got back from your funeral
You were lying on a sheet
With some strange man standing over you
As though he knew you more than me

But you've still got that body
And you've reminded me of that
but when I look at you
You don't look back
When I look at you
You don't look back
When I look at you
You don't look back

LA CANZONE DEL GIORNO: OCTOPUS/BLOC PARTY

It hid and it hid in his bedroom
Psycho killer teen dream action film
Gonna show you how we get down in my hood
Bubbling bubbling cheap champagne
Leyendecker hole wrecker feel no pain
Lying face down when I swing your way and what?
What's my name, what's my name?

Mary Anna said it's a no-go
She don't feel like
She don't think so
I don't know why
I feel like crying
Well come on, come on
Say come on

They ran and they ran from his classroom
Roll another 40, make them scream
Gonna show you how we do things in my hood
Tripping and a-tripping, erase all tapes
John Wayne, Rob Roy feel no pain
This is the point where you look the other way
You done
Lost your mind

Mary Anna said it's a no-go
She don't feel like
She don't think so
I don't know why
I feel like crying
Well come on, come on
Say come on
Come on

Mary Anna said it's a no-go
She don't feel like
She don't think so
I don't know why
I feel like crying
Well come on, come on
Say come on
Come on

THE RYKJVK AWARDS 2011

IL DISCO DELL'ANNO: LET ENGLAND SHAKE/PJ HARVEY

ALL AND EVERYONE

All And Everyone), a volte quasi scanzonate (The Last Living Rose, The Words That Maketh Murder).

1. LET ENGLAND SHAKE/PJ HARVEY (28%)
2. THE KING OF LIMBS/RADIOHEAD (23%)
VELOCIRAPTOR!/KASABIAN (23%)
4. FATHER, SON, HOLY GHOST/GIRLS (9%)
SMOTHER/WILD BEASTS (9%)
WOUNDED RHYMES/LYKKE LI (9%)
7. I AM VERY FAR/OKKERVIL RIVER (1%)
VIOLET CRIES/ESBEN AND THE WITCH (1%)
9. BUILD A ROCKET BOYS!/ELBOW (0%)
HARBORED MANTRAS/WATER BORDERS (0%)
SKYING/THE HORRORS (0%)
THE FUTURE IS MEDIEVAL/KAISER CHIEFS (0%)

In the center of the city was a statue and her twin
And together they watched over everything
They saw me when I stumbled and they watched you help me stand
I'd swear Cecelia and her sister had it all planned
Then one morning I was walking from my window to your door
Well I nearly hit the ground with what I saw
Cecelia had been broken while her sister had been spared
And the vandals had scattered the pieces everywhere

And all it made me wonder what kind of twisted mind
Would ever hurt her so thoughtless and unkind
But a monster so cruel can't be that hard to find boys

So I started wearing warpaint and I gathered all my friends
For Cecelia we'd be hunters 'till the end
She was built for a perfect picture but she came to represent
Though I guess I never understood exactly what it meant
I know Cecilia and her sister were just statues made of stone
But I still missed her and now her sister's all alone
No that just won't do
So let's raid the vandal's homes boys

So we ventured out at sunrise with our torches and our spears
And our shotguns and our fears and our carefully hidden tears
For Cecelia, Cecelia
Now I'm thinking of the moment when we can look them in the eye
And make them sorry 'cause tonight they're gonna die
We'll shoot them up dead
Leave their bodies where they lie boys

So now we're following the pieces of Cecilia to the door
Every shattered limb repeatedly reminding us of what we're searching for
And the sleepers have woken for now they have an aim
Yes they're quite aware of the cold hard fact
That the city's loss could be their gain
They are dreaming of, the feeling of a trophy in their arms
A hero's welcome claiming women with their charms
I'm sorry if I hurt you
You know I swear I meant no harm baby

So the trail keeps on turning as we wonder through the streets
I keep looking at the pieces of Cecelia at my feet
But the strangest thing occurs to me
When I stop to look around
Oh I'd swear we are returning to the center of the town
Yes we're back here where we started
Where Cecelia used to stand but her sister looks different
Please, tell me boys if you can
Is that a smile on her face?
Is that a hammer in her hand?

LA CANZONE DEL GIORNO: WHAT DO YOU WANT ME FOR?/OVERLORD

What do you want me for?
I always ask that of all my prey
Prey, tell me
What do you want me for?

Which florid lure first earned a look?
Which of all the many hooks got under your skin?
For future reference

What do you want me for?
It will decide everything I say
I'm ready
What do you want me for?

Which woeful tale or clever quip put you in my loving grip?
I'm always revising the script
So help me
What do you want me for?

It's not a lie
It's not a lie
If I make myself believe it
It's not a lie
It's not a lie

What do you want me for?
Don't be surprised how much we're the same
I've studied
What do you want me for?

Can you extend loving the attention
To loving the attendant?
Or you'll just refill my poison pen
When you leave
What do you want me for?

LA CANZONE DEL GIORNO: SUEDEHEAD/MORRISSEY

Why do you come here?
And why do you hang around?
I'm so sorry
I'm so sorry

Why do you come here
When you know it makes things hard for me?
When you know
Why do you come ?
Why do you telephone?
And why send me silly notes?
I'm so sorry
I'm so sorry

Why do you come here
When you know it makes things hard for me?
When you know
Why do you come?

You had to sneak into my room
Just to read my diary
It was just to see
Just to see
All the things you knew I'd written about you
Oh, so many illustrations
Oh, but I'm so very sickened
I am so sickened now

It was a good lay, good lay
It was a good lay, good lay
It was a good lay, good lay

It was a good lay, good lay
It was a good lay, good lay
It was a good lay, good lay
